Frequency Of Posts

The frequency of my posts tends to depend on how much i feel like writing posts, how busy i am, and whether or not i feel like i have something interesting to post about.  In some cases, that means that i don’t post for a couple of days and in other cases it means that i post a lot in a short time span.  For instance, i already published 12 posts this week alone.

Now, what i’m wondering is: do you, as the reader, prefer it that i sort of try to spread my posts a bit more? I know i sometimes find it annoying when a blogger posts too much in just a few days, and i already try to schedule my posts so that there are typically a couple of posts per week, and never more than one each day.  Then again, sometimes i really just want to publish as soon as its written, so that sometimes leads to a lot of posts in a short time span or even multiple posts per day.

So anyways, would love some feedback on this from you :)

    I enjoy getting 1-2 a day (morning and afternoon). if something pressing comes up you can always post immediately.

    heh, don’t expect it to be like 1 or 2 a day all the time ;)

    i generally try to keep an average of at least between 2 and 4 posts a week, though there are obviously often weeks where i don’t post at all

    If I don’t feel like it, I don’t read them and that’s it, but it’s my choice (and I can make the choice because the posts exist)

    On another note, I’d love it if you capitalized the “i” when you use the first person… but perhaps it’s just me :)

    you’re definitely not the first to mention the “i”-thing… i know i should, but i just think it’s a rule which requires too much effort while writing, so i’ve chosen to consistently ignore it ;)

    Davy,
    I run into the same problem, I solved it by introducing a posting queue, where every post I make goes to the head of the queue.
    It means that even if I spurts five posts a day (not infrequent), I don’t have to worry about overloading the readers.

    I like Ayende’s post queue.

    And I always find it odd that when writing English, I have to capitalize the word that refers to me, kind of egocentric :)

    Davy,

    My suggestion is to post as you have something to say. You’ll get faster feedback, which is always interesting, and spark the thoughts of your readers and other bloggers earlier.

    I can manage my queue of your posts as I see fit. If I get “brion” withdrawals when you haven’t posted in a while, I can re-read some of my favorites. Thanks for the time you put into sharing your thoughts and experiences.

    Hi Davy,

    I agree with Doug. I think you should post with the frequency you feel comfortable with. Blogging should be fun and when it became an obligation, better slow down or make a break. If you have something to communicate, it will be our pleasure to read ;-)

    Thanks for investing your time :)

    I agree that 1-2 a day is a good pace except for when the posts share a related topic, then I dont see why more cant be published in a short time span… or you could have a bit of fun with it and add in a cliffhanger at the end making everyone wait a further day to read your next enthrawling post :)

    For unknown reasons I have absolutely no problem with this :D

    @Kilfour

    LOL :)

    @Neil

    1-2 a day will always be the result of a temporary increase in productivity… i’d never be able to keep that up for more than a few weeks :)

    I’m very happy with the ‘stream of consciousness’ approach; a fixed schedule seems too arbitrary to maintain – so keep on posting as and when you feel like it.

    Keep at it :)

    Saving posts sounds painful… post as it happens. The quality of the posts are what I appreciate. No talking for talking sake, ayende has great post, but suffers from this.
