I’m not a big commenter either – ironic really as I’m commenting now…
I also read 95% of blogs in my rss reader (NewsGator or Outlook) so can’t use the voting mechanisms. Only when I feel I can contribute to the discussion will I come out of hiding and say something.

But I do love your blog, you’ve always got something valuable to say.

ah, i finally figured out how to change the appearance of the stars so they look slightly less ugly now… i also reduced it to 5 stars instead of 10

Much like Matts comment above, I’m not a big commenter; I tend to comment only when I feel I have some input that can be of use.

In this case, that input is: thanks for all your good work with your blog. I feel like I have taken a great deal of inspiration from it. I’ve very much enjoyed your recent DAL series and Ayende’s commentary on his blog also.

that makes sense… but people appear to be using both already, maybe it’s just because it’s new. I’m gonna wait and see how it’s used for a couple of weeks and then i’ll probably just keep one of the two rating mechanisms

i tried selecting a different color set for the stars, but it didn’t seem to work

That’s a lot of stars. Am I really going to make a difference between 6 stars and 7 stars? That’s why star ratings should have no more than 5 stars, thumbs up/down being probably optimal. Facebook went even further and only has “like”, which may be a little too little. I’d choose one rating mechanism, not two, and I’d choose thumbs up/down.

I rarely go to an actual blog unless I want to comment or (and this is typically when the blogger has posed some type of problem or question) to see what other people have commented.

I read most blogs in-line in Google Reader, where the Star Ranking doesn’t work, so I am no more likely to use the Star Ranking system than I am likely to comment, because both require a visit to the actual blog.

I’m not a big commenter by any means, but since you asked, keep up the good work. I really enjoy reading your blog, even if I don’t get to put my hands on all the cool stuff

Also, noticed a pickup in the number of posts lately, suppose that relates to the burnout, but it’s been a nice change. Keep it up, looking forward to reading more!
