		<description>I agree that tools can make it easier to avoid the problem, but i really think a lot of developers simply need to think a bit more before they just start reusing types from other namespaces.  I don&#039;t think it will avoid the problem, but i do think it could reduce the impact of the problem significantly</description>

The fact is that one needs tooling to avoid erosion, whether is it NDepend or any other tool with this capability. I have never seen a code base properly levelized (i.e not entangled) without the help of tooling. See the section &#039;Examples of dependency cycles&#039; in this article:
